Was the car and the journey worthwhile?

It was actually better than advertised. Spotlessly clean, exceptionally well presented and in the most outstanding order. The drive home was faultless – no rattles, squeaks or warning lights. But then as a one owner (elderly gent), very low mileage, full main dealer service history car, it performed just as I thought and indeed hoped, it would.
You’d think that was the story right there, wouldn’t you? Great car, well priced, no issues whatsoever. End of.
This is a family business. Emphasis on the family bit. That’s been trading locally for over 50 years. 50 years mind. And with that amount of time under their belt, I promise you a buying experience, the likes of which, no main dealer is even capable of getting near.
I sent Mick a quick enquiry on Thursday night. He was sat at home, and personally replied within 15 mins. His reply by reassurance on the car was both genuine & honest. ‘But call me in the morning and we can have a proper chat’ was how he concluded.
So I did. And the easiest, no pressure conversation that followed resulted in the most no fuss purchase of my entire motoring life (40 years). As I could only manage down on the Saturday when the showroom was closed, Mick promised to open up for a personal handover. Doesn’t get much better. But –
And I hope Mick doesn’t mind me mentioning this next bit. That evening (Friday) he took suddenly and seriously unwell and was rushed to hospital. Incredibly, he arranged for his son Brett to take over, and sent me a text from hospital (!) explaining the reason why he wouldn’t be there in person.
Brett too, clearly a chip of the family block, handed over the car with a no fuss, great personality and enthusiastic approach that was a pleasure to deal with.
So is a five + star review in order for customer service, professionalism and attention to detail? Absolutely.
And should there be an additional 5+ (probably 10) star award for a family run enterprise with an outstanding business approach, to be thoroughly & wholeheartedly recommended – without hesitation – if you are reading this as a prospective buyer?
